The Guild recognizes the value of community service and takes the responsibility to improve the lives of others by supporting local nonprofit organizations. The Flemington Area Food pantry and the Women's Crisis Services of Hunterdon County have been recent beneficiaries of donations by our members.
Josephine Knoblauch founded
our Guild in 1977. Jo receives our monthly newsletter and continues to follow our activities with much interest.
Jo recently sent the following note which appeared in The Loop, February, 2015 .
“...Your recent press release ‘Rug Artisans Guild Support Victims of Domestic Violence’ is another informative article about community activities that the Guild is involved in, apart from its purpose for existence to preserve the cultural heritage of traditional rug hooking.
Historically, back in the 70s when I was coordinating the organization and existence of all the Guilds, I stressed serving the community because each township was so supportive when we originally started classes to teach Arts and Crafts under the PACHA Project.
Facilities were opened up to use everywhere free of charge. Each township could see the positive value for its populace.
Adult students wishing to learn from the entire county were involved. We continued to use a lot of those free facilities well past the funding from the Project. Working cooperatively with the community is one of the finest ways possible to show
appreciation for their past and continued support.
Kudos to your Guild for your excellent work.”
